Sound Bath

Sound Baths - Your Gentlest First Step

If you've been curious about sound therapy but aren't sure where to start, this is the place. A sound bath is a group or private experience where you simply lie down, get comfortable, & let the sound do the work. No experience is needed, no effort is required - just show up and let yourself receive for a change.

Sound therapy is increasingly recognized in clinical and integrative settings, including institutions like the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Johns Hopkins Medicine where it's used as part of care programs for stress reduction, pain management, & neurological support. Our sound baths are rooted in those same principles, delivered in a warm, welcoming space by a certified sound therapy guide.

What to Expect

Each session is led by Steve McCormick, a certified sound therapist trained in Integral Sound Healing - a method designed to treat the whole person - mind, body, & spirit - rather than target one area or symptom. This method draws from modern science, ancient wisdom, music theory, & sound healing traditions from around the world. Steve plays his way through each session intuitively, choosing from instruments such as singing bowls, tuning forks, gongs, drums, or even the human voice. No two sessions are ever the same but they are all designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, & improve overall well-being. Sessions run approximately one hour - time to settle in, 45-50 minutes of sound, & 5 minutes of silent integration at the end. You'll leave feeling quieter than when you arrived.

Common Questions

Do I need any experience or preparation?

Not at all. Show up in comfortable clothes with an open mind — Steve will take care of everything else. All floor mats, linens, and pillows are cleaned after every session. If you prefer to bring your own, you're welcome to.

Is this the same as a sound meditation?

Yes - sound bath, sound meditation, sound healing, & sound journey are all common names for the same type of experience. What sets our sessions apart is the depth of training & the intuitive, instrument-led approach Steve brings to each one.

How many people can attend?

Our monthly public sound bath sessions can accommodate up to 10 people & are held in our open studio space. We also have a private room that can accommodate up to 3 people. One-on-one sessions are done in this same private space & provide an opportunity for more individualized focus with a variety of instruments & techniques centered around your own intention.

How long is a session?

A session will last approximately one hour. This includes time to settle into a comfortable position (typically laying on a cushioned floor mat), 45-50mins for the guide to lead you through sound, & 5mins of silent integration at the end. If you are not comfortable on a floor mat we have a limited number of zero gravity chairs available.

Can I do a sound bath if I'm pregnant?

You cannot do a session if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy. After the first trimester, please let Steve know at the time of booking & he'll make all necessary accommodations, including keeping instruments away from your body.

Is there anything that would prevent me from doing a sound bath?

If you have sound-induced epilepsy, we unfortunately aren't able to conduct a session for you as the sound from our instruments could be a trigger. If you have any other health concerns, feel free to reach out before booking & we'll help you figure out the right fit.
